Keoni Ching takes kindness seriously. For his school's annual Kindness Week, he wanted to do something that would really matter to his schoolmates. He decided to erase their lunch debt by selling handmade key chains for $5 each--and raised $4,015, enough to pay off the debt at Franklin Elementary and six other schools in Vancouver, Washington. When interviewed about his good deed, Keoni said he was inspired by former Seattle Seahawk Richard Sherman, who recently paid off lunch debts at a school in Tacoma. He also said that helping others is important because "it just makes the world a better place."
And Keoni's not finished making the world a better place: he plans to continue to make keychains, this time giving the proceeds to a local children's hospital.
