Don't you love a modest hero?

I have a friend who's a hero! His story came to my attention a while after it happened:

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. —

A woman and two children were rescued Friday morning by two surfers after the car she was driving plunged into the Monterey Bay."She was pretty banged up and in shock. I think she was pretty roughed up," said Joe Evans.

Evans and another surfer rescued a woman and two children after their car crashed into the ocean. "Everyone was still in the car. The windows were down and the (other) surfer helped them get out and the kids seemed to be okay. He got them out and then he went back to get her. He used the surfboard as a backboard." said Evans. "We got them on the beach and we got them stable."

My friend is the other surfer, the one who saw the car go off a cliff, swam to the car, dove into the submerged car to get the children and then went back to get the mother. The one who didn't want to give his name to the paper or spread it around on social media. The one who just wanted to help and ended up saving three lives. Kudos to both men, but an extra gold star to my anonymous friend.
