Think kind thoughts! A recent study at Iowa State University found that directing loving kindness toward others makes us feel better. Researchers asked college students to look at individuals around them and think, “I wish for this person to be happy.” In just twelve minutes, those who wished others well reported they felt happier, more connected, caring and empathetic, as well as less anxious.
Another cool thing about this idea (this is Cindy now. I doubt researchers say "cool" in their reports): I bet that the people you wish well feel that wave of kindness. Maybe not in a woo-woo way (though I'm not discounting that), but in the look they see in your eyes, the slight smile on your lips. Why not spread kind thoughts today?
(And then let us know how it goes—we’d love to hear about it!)
